What Is AIS?

AIS (Automatic Irrigation Switch) is an IoT device that allows farmers to remotely operate the irrigation pumps using Decision Support System based on soil moisture condition & availability of electricity, Time Triggers to operate at a predefined time for a defined duration, Missed Call, or Android Application.

Why AIS?

null

The Big Picture

Indian agriculture accounts for 90% water use due to fast track groundwater depletion and poor irrigation systems, leading to ‘water scarcity’
null

The Reality

India’s water problem in agriculture is NOT OF SCARCITY, rather of INEFFICIENT USE.
null

The Problem

Most Indian farmers face the challenge of water demand estimation & pump operation.
null

The Solution

By automating irrigation as per requirements, forecasting water demand, & creating an accountability for water & energy used. And this is exactly what the Automatic Irrigation Switch is designed for.

What Problems Do We Solve?

Water Demand Estimation

Farmers want to get an estimate of the right quantity and duration for watering the fields and wish to know:

  • When to irrigate
  • When to irrigate

Pump Operation

The challenges faced are:

  • Uncertainty of the time and duration for the availability of electricity to operate the irrigation pumps
  • Necessity to visit the farms to operate the pump in unfavorable weather conditions or in odd-timings
  • Safety of pump motor from electric hazards during rain or thunder

What Do We Offer To Solve These Problems?

Remote Pump Operation Using Mobile

  • SecuFarm mobile application allows the farmers to plan the pump run hours using this tool
  • AIS system can be switched ON / OFF by farmer by giving a missed call from the registered mobile number

Pump Operation Based On Availability Of Electricity

  • AIS will operate once the electricity is available
  • Pump will be operated for pre-defined irrigation time and will automatically be switched off once irrigation time is completed
  • An acknowledgement return call or SMS will be sent to the farmer for every event; viz. Pump ON or OFF, Electricity availability

Pump Operation Based On Soil Moisture

  • Pump will be triggered ON for a predefined irrigation time by our SecuFarm Decision Support System once the soil moisture level goes down to threshold level

What Is AWS?

Automatic weather stations consist of weather sensors, installed at masts with standard heights of 2 m, 3 m, or 10 m (to prevent surface obstacles in measuring wind speed and direction) and a data logger unit, which collects, processes and stores the data and manages the communication protocols with remote servers.

Why AWS?

null

The Big Picture

More than 40 million ha of cropped area was damaged between 2011 and 2020 due to vagaries of weather including floods, unseasonal rainfall, hailstorms, and draughts.
null

The Reality

Most losses due to weather can be prevented with sufficient data, efficient forecasting, and timely action.
null

The Problem

Weather data is difficult to procure, especially in remote sites. Human labor and human error further add to the problem of the weather data collection.
null

The Solution

Automatic Weather Stations are extensively used to collect data from sites and locations which are remote, difficult to access or even from other locations to save human labor and avoid human error.

Electronic and manual pest traps are devices installed in the project farms for early detection and estimation of pests.

Why Pest Traps?

null

The Big Picture

On average, 33 % of crop loss occurs due to insect pests and diseases. These amount to over INR 50,000 crores per annum.
null

The Reality

These crop losses can be prevented by timely detection of pests and appropriate & adequate application of pesticides.
null

The Problem

Farmers are unable to forecast and / or detect early signs of a pest infestation.
null

The Solution

The pest monitoring systems developed by WRMS detect early signs of pest infestation and send notifications to the farmers for appropriate preventive / remedial measures.

What Do We Offer To Solve These Problems?

Electronic Traps

  • Sticky paper inside the apparatus attracts pests to stick on it
  • Inbuilt camera captures images of the sticky paper and sends it to the cloud server

  • Device also logs this request to the server along with the details of mobile phone used for operation, GPS coordinates of the device where the operation took place, and time stamp of operation
  • If the network is not present during the operation, the device stores the data locally and sends it to server when network is available
  • In this case, although the request is processed, but the details of the operation are logged onto the server and can be used afterwards for verification
  • Application: Where network is weak or there is internet blockage because of some government orders or other reasons

Emergency Mode

  • If the command received from the app to the hardware is in emergency mode, then hardware will check OTP received from the app with the OTP locally stored inside the hardware
  • Device operates the lock only if OTP matches
  • Device also logs this request and its verification status to the server along with the details of mobile phone used for operation, GPS coordinates of the device where the operation took place, and time stamp of operation
  • If the network is not present during operation, the device stores the data locally and sends it to server when network is available
